What is the University Welcome?
The University Welcome is the first official university event of the year for incoming freshmen and transfer students. Learn about what it means to be a Mountaineer. The informative presentation will include several campus representatives, including WVU President Jim Clements.
Who needs to attend?
All incoming freshmen and transfer students with less than 29 credit hours must attend convocation. Attendance is REQUIRED for WVUe 191: First Year Seminar credit.
How do I obtain proof of attendance?
At the conclusion of the presentation, students will be dismissed in an orderly fashion. Upon leaving their assigned seating sections, students will be given a proof of attendance ticket. Take your ticket to the first session of your WVUe 191 (or equivalent) class.
How do I get to the University Welcome?
For those students living in residence halls, buses will transport you to and from the University Welcome event. Your RA will provide further instructions during your first floor meeting. For commuting students, free parking is available at the WVU Coliseum. Parking staff and signage will direct you to the designated parking areas.
