WVU Pass App and Wristband

To access Mountaineer MovieFest, Monday Night Lights (for new undergraduates only), FoodFest and FallFest, students are required to have a WVU Welcome Week radio-frequency identification (RFID) wristband.

How to claim your wristband

Step 1 – Download WVU Pass

Download the “WVU Pass" app in the Apple Store or Google Play

We’ll use this app to remind you of upcoming events, weather conditions and other important Welcome Week info.

Step 2 – Claim your ticket

Open the WVU Pass app and click on the QR code in the upper right corner to create your Mountaineer Pass, which will be scanned when you pick up your wristband.

Step 3 – Pick up your wristband

Stop by one of the wristband locations to scan the QR code on your Mountaineer Pass, verify your identity with your WVU ID (so bring that, too) and receive a wristband:

  • Downtown: Mountainlair Commons Area, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday (August 11-13, 2018)
  • Evansdale: Student Recreation Center lobby, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Monday (August 11-13, 2018); and outside Bennett Tower on Tuesday, August 14 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (look for the signs and tents)
WVU staff and volunteers will help you activate your ticket and attach your wristband. Don't remove your wristband until at least midnight after FallFest. When you remove your wristband, it will deactivate — and we cannot issue a replacement.

Save time in line by downloading the app and registering BEFORE stopping by a wristband location.

All WVU students will need to claim their wristband prior to gaining entrance into FallFest on Tuesday, August 14.

Step 4 – Have fun!

Your wristband is your ticket to Mountaineer MovieFest, Monday Night Lights (for new undergraduates only), FoodFest and FallFest.

And don’t forget to use the WVU Pass app to earn badges and compete for prizes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring a guest to FallFest?

WVU students with a wristband may bring one guest. The guest must be at least 17 years old and present a valid photo ID. Guests and their WVU student host should enter FallFest at the same time; unaccompanied guests will not be admitted.

Why can’t I use my student ID instead of a wristband?

In the past, validating student IDs caused significant delays for students entering popular events. We’re using wristbands this year to move ID validation (through activating your ticket and receiving your wristband) away from entrance gates. Scanning your wristband should be faster than scanning ID cards and make it easier to get into the venue – and you’ll be able to use your wristband to get snacks at MovieFest and your meal at FoodFest, instead of carrying paper tickets.

Is the wristband waterproof?

Yes! You can continue normal activities. Just don’t remove the wristband until after FallFest.

What if I don’t want to download the app and get a wristband?

Downloading the app, claiming your ticket and picking up your wristband are only required to participate in Mountaineer MovieFest, Monday Night Lights (for new undergraduates only), FoodFest or FallFest. You can take part in all other Welcome Week events without the app and wristband.
