Academic Schedule for First-Year Students

On Monday, August 14, new undergraduate students are required to attend the Academic Session for their college or school. Session times and locations are listed below. 

If you are in one of the following "pre" majors, please plan to attend the academic orientation session scheduled by the college or school that houses your major:
  • Pre-Dental Hygiene
  • Pre-Education
  • Pre-Immunology and Medical Microbiology
  • Pre-Media
  • Pre-Med Lab Sciences
  • Pre-Occupational Therapy
  • Pre-Pharmacy
  • Pre-Public Health
  • Pre-Speech Pathology and Audiology

If you are in any other "pre" major (not listed above) or undecided, please plan to attend the academic orientation session for CLASS.

If you aren't sure which major you are in or which college or school houses your major, you can find that information in DegreeWorks, which you can access through the WVU Portal.  

Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design

10 a.m.- 2 p.m., Agricultural Sciences Building

Eberly College of Arts and Sciences

10:30 a.m., Students visit academic departments

 Find your Eberly department location

11:45 a.m., Departments begin to take students to Mountainlair Green

Noon-2 p.m., Eberly students meet for Dean's address, refreshments and a Common Read activity

College of Business and Economics

9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., 4th floor atrium area, Business and Economics Building. Enter through main entrance and Student Ambassadors will direct you to the atrium.


8:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Mountainlair Ballrooms

College of Creative Arts

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. in the lobby of the Creative Arts Center. The session runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

School of Dentistry

10 a.m.-3 p.m., Dental Hygiene Orientation Picnic, St. Mary's Pavilion, Star City

College of Education and Human Services

10 a.m.-1 p.m., Percival and Allen Halls

Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Sciences

Check in at the courtyard between the Mineral Resources Building and  the Engineering Sciences Building (rain location: tunnels into Mineral Resources Building). The College will email your check-in time – 9 a.m., 9:15 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. – to you in August. Please arrive at your assigned time. The academic session will last until 1 p.m.
